Organizational Overview

Kachua Dalima Women Association (KDWA) is an independent,non-political, non-profit, and non-governmental women-led organization operating in Bangladesh. Established under the umbrella of the Kachua Dalima Association (KDA) in Kachua, Bauphal Upazilla, Patuakhali District, Bangladesh. KDWA is Registered by Department of women affairs ,Ministry of women and children affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Vision
To build an inclusive, equitable, and empowered society where women and girls enjoy their rights, dignity, and equal opportunities in all spheres of life.
Mission
To strengthen women’s leadership, promote gender equality, and enhance women’s socio-economic empowerment through education, skill development, climate resilience, and rights-based community engagement.
Objectives
To promote women’s participation in social, economic, and local governance processes. To provide vocational and life-skill training for women and adolescent girls. To support women’s entrepreneurship and access to micro-enterprise opportunities.
To raise awareness on gender-based violence (GBV), women’s rights, and health issues.
To engage women in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and community resilience initiatives.
To strengthen women’s voices in peacebuilding, environmental protection, and social justice.

The key programmatic areas of KDWA include:

Women’s Empowerment and Leadership Development – strengthening women’s participation in local governance, decision-making, and community leadership.

Livelihoods and Economic Resilience – providing training, microenterprise support, and access to income-generating opportunities for women.

Education and Skills Development – enhancing literacy, vocational training, and life skills for women and adolescent girls.

Health, Nutrition, and Reproductive Rights – promoting maternal and child health, hygiene awareness, and access to essential healthcare services.

Gender Equality and Human Rights – preventing gender-based violence and advocating for women’s rights and social justice.

Climate Change and Disaster Resilience – empowering women in climate adaptation, natural resource management, and sustainable agriculture practices.


KDWA envisions a just and equitable society where women live with dignity, have equal access to resources, and contribute effectively to sustainable development. Its mission is to create an enabling environment for women’s empowerment, social inclusion, and community resilience through participatory, rights-based, and gender-sensitive approaches and Networking with local government institutions, NGOs, and women’s forums

Governance Structure :

KDWA is governed by the Board of Kachua Dalima Association (KDA) But their own interdependent Executive Board a 7-member Executive Committee, elected every three years by the General Council. The organization is managed by a professional Secretariat headed by an Chairman. It follows a participatory decision-making approach, ensuring accountability, transparency, and inclusion.

Major Achievements
  • Trained over 1,200 women and girls in tailoring, handicrafts, and entrepreneurship.
  • Supported 200 women entrepreneurs through micro-enterprise development.
  • Conducted 50+ community awareness campaigns on gender rights and GBV prevention.
  • Engaged 300+ women in climate adaptation and community-based disaster risk reduction.
  • Established strong collaboration with local government and civil society networks.
Partnership and Networking

KDAWA collaborates with local government bodies, community-based organizations, and national NGOs. It is exploring partnerships with international donors and UN agencies focusing on women’s empowerment, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
