Agriculture Program
The Agriculture Program focuses on empowering local farmers and rural communities to improve agricultural productivity and enhance livelihoods.
Key Activities :
1. Community Development and Training:
- Formation and development of small, marginal, and landless farmers' groups.
- Providing training on group formation, savings and credit management, and income-generating activities (IGAs).
- Skill development training in goat and cow rearing, vegetable gardening, poultry rearing, fish culture, small trades, and handicrafts.
2. Support and Credit Facilities:
- Offering credit support to farmers for IGAs to increase income and ensure sustainable livelihoods.
- Establishing agriculture farms and preparing project plans and budgets.
3. Integrated Agricultural Development:
- Implementing pest-free agricultural production programs.
- Promoting efficient utilization of pest control and fertilizers.
- Conducting area-specific training for individual farmers and groups.
- Encouraging the integration of crop and livestock production with soil and water conservation practices.
4. Awareness and Social Development:
- Organizing social awareness training on health, hygiene, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
- o Emphasizing the role of women in agriculture and promoting gender-inclusive practices.
Project Long-term Goals:
- Improving the living standards of rural communities and individual farmers by aligning natural resource management with local needs and skills.
- Promoting sustained development through agricultural extension services, research, credit, marketing, and rural infrastructure development.
- Establishing self-sufficient societies through institutional mechanisms that support equal-gender participation and integrated community involvement.
Project Special Focus:
The program emphasizes the critical role of women in agriculture, ensuring their active involvement and equal participation. By integrating a comprehensive approach to project implementation, the initiative aims to create long-term benefits for rural communities and the environment.
